Dr. Mridha discusses need to protect Saginaw Bay, Tittabawassee River
Saginaw, Mich. -- As Michigan residents head to the beaches and parks to celebrate the 4th of July this weekend, State Senate candidate Debasish Mridha, M.D. called for Michigan to take swift action and declare its independence from oil by banning Great Lakes drilling to protect our waters and beaches. Mridha is running for the 32nd State Senate District seat covering Gratiot and Saginaw counties.
“One of our most important resources in our community is our water,” said Mridha. “Saginaw Bay, the Tittabawassee River and our Great Lakes are extremely popular for local tourism and it’s important we take any measure to protect these bodies of water from dangerous environmental disasters.”
SAGINAW — Saginaw County donors and volunteers will share their stories at the Saginaw Community Foundation’s annual community celebration.
Dr. Debasish Mridha, neurologist and director of the Michigan Advanced Neurology Center at 4705 Towne Center in Saginaw Township, said he created his foundation and the teacher of the year award because both his parents and siblings are teachers. He said his ninth-grade literature teacher in his home country of Bangladesh encouraged him to explore his potential.
